General Terms and Conditions

Lainapalikka Suomi Oy - brickborrow.fi

Welcome to Brick Borrow.
We’re here to make building with LEGO® sets fun, easy, and accessible.

Brick Borrow service (hereinafter the "Service") is a LEGO® set borrowing service provided and maintained by Lainapalikka Suomi Oy (hereinafter the "Service Provider") though its website at www.brickborrow.fi.

These Terms and Conditions apply to agreements between the Service Provider and its customers (the "Customer"), as well as to the use of the Service, in addition to the applicable consumer protection legislation. The Terms and Conditions are designed to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all Customers and users of the Service. Use of the Service requires acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. By subscribing the Service, you accept these Terms and Conditions.

Registration for the Service

Placing an order for the Service requires registering as a user. During registration, the Customer must provide accurate and correct contact details, including at least their first and last name, email address, postal address, and phone number. By registering, the Customer confirms that the information they provide about themselves is true and correct. The Customer must read and accept these Terms and Conditions when registering.

The Service is intended for private use only. The Customer must be an adult individual with a valid credit card. The Service Provider collects and processes the Customer’s personal data for order processing and for maintaining and managing the customer relationship in accordance with its Privacy Policy (www.brickborrow.fi/tietosuoja).

The Customer’s email address provided during registration functions as his/her username, and the Customer chooses a password at the time of registration. The username and password are personal and may only be used by the Customer. They must be stored securely so that unauthorized persons cannot access them. The Customer is responsible for all actions performed using their username and password. If the Customer suspects that someone else is using their credentials, they must immediately change their password and notify the Service Provider.

The Service Provider has the right to require the Customer to change their password without providing a reason. The password must be changed without delay.

Ordering the Service / Membership Subscription

A Customer who has registered for the Service may subscribe to the Service by selecting a membership plan with a recurring fee and providing valid credit card details on the order form. The chosen membership plan determines which LEGO® sets you can borrow, how many at a time, and how often. After placing an order, the membership fee for the selected billing period (monthly or yearly) is charged to the Customer’s credit card. Thereafter, recurring membership fees, shipping costs, and any additional charges are automatically billed on a monthly basis. Payments already charged are non-refundable. If the Customer’s credit card details change, the Customer must place a new order with updated details no later than fourteen (14) days before the start of the next billing period.

The membership subscription is valid until further notice and may be terminated in accordance with the terms set out in the section “Termination of the Membership Subscription”. Returning borrowed LEGO® sets does not end the membership subscription or the Customer’s payment obligations.

Payment Methods

Currently, the only accepted payment method is credit card. Payment processing is provided by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (the "Payment Processor") in cooperation with banks and credit institutions. The Payment Processor holds the required payment institution license within the EEA as required by the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority. All data transfers and payment transactions are SSL-secured. The Service Provider is not responsible for payment processing and does not collect or store Customer card details.

Membership Subscriptions and Set Selection

Membership subscription are billed monthly or annually. The following membership plans are currently available:

  • Mystery set subscription: Borrow one set selected by us for each monthly borrowing period (calculated from your subscription start date). If you return the set before your next monthly borrowing period begins, your next set will be sent at the start of that new period. You may keep the borrowed set for as long as you like, but borrowing across multiple periods does not entitle you to additional sets simultaneously.

  • Builder subscription: Borrow one set of your choice at a time. You may select any set, subject to additional conditions for valuable or rare sets as described under "Borrowing Epic Sets".

  • Master subscription: Borrow two sets of your choice at the same time. Both sets are shipped together in one delivery and must also be returned together. You may select any sets, subject to the additional conditions for valuable or rare sets under "Borrowing Epic Sets".

Changing Your Membership Subscription

To change your selected membership plan, please contact us at info@brickborrow.fi or via the contact form on our website.

Pausing Your Membership Subscription

If you wish to take a break from borrowing and have no sets currently on loan, please contact us at info@brickborrow.fi or through the website’s contact form. Annual subscription plan may pause their subscription for 1–3 months. The pause extends the term of the subscription accordingly.

Order Cancellation / Right of Withdrawal under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act

In accordance with Chapter 6, Section 14 of the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (kuluttajansuojalaki, 38/1978), consumers have the right to cancel a distance sale subscription of the Service by notifying the Service Provider at info@brickborrow.fi or via the contact form within fourteen (14) days from placing the order.

Because of this withdrawal right, the Customer’s first borrowed set is shipped only after the withdrawal period has expired. If the Customer wishes to receive the first set before the withdrawal period ends, they must make an explicit request and accept that the withdrawal right no longer applies once the Service Provider has shipped the first set and thereby fulfilled its obligations. If the Customer exercise withdrawal right after making such a request, he/she must pay the Service Provider reasonable compensation for the part of the Service already provided.

Termination of Membership Subscription

A membership subscription valid until further notice may be terminated to expire at the end of the current billing period by notifying the Service Provider at info@brickborrow.fi or through the website’s contact form no later than fourteen (14) days before the end of the billing period. Termination requires that the Customer has successfully returned all borrowed sets. In other words, the Customer may not terminate his/her membership subscription while still holding borrowed sets.

The Service Provider may, at its sole discretion and for any reason (e.g. unpaid fees), terminate the Customer’s membership subscription and require the return of all borrowed sets. If the sets are not returned within the required notice period, the Service Provider may charge the Customer compensation equal to their replacement value.

Gift Cards

Gift cards can only be redeemed against the price of a monthly-billed subscription. Gift card subscriptions are non-refundable. Gift cards must be activated within 12 months from the date of purchase.

Borrowing Epic Sets

Sets that have a large number of pieces, are rare, or are otherwise high-value are called "Epic" sets and are distinctly identified on our site. If you are new to Brick Borrow, you must complete a three-month "apprenticeship" before you can borrow these sets. During this period, you will need to have three months of an active subscription and demonstrate responsible borrowing behaviour. This policy is necessary to protect against theft and loss of high-value sets in the initial subscription period. This requirement is waived if you subscribed an annual Builder or Master membership plan.

Delivery of Borrowed Sets

We aim to keep delivery costs fair and transparent. A flat fee of €9.99 is charged per order, covering both shipping and return, regardless of the number or size of sets. Deliveries are available only within Finland, excluding Åland.

We primarily use Posti services for deliveries. Sets are usually shipped within 1–2 business days after ordering. While we always aim to meet this timeframe, dispatch and delivery times may vary during busy periods or due to circumstances beyond our control. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive tracking information.

If a shipment is not claimed after a period of time (following shipper policies) or is otherwise returned to us, it will be treated as if you had received and returned the sets normally. No refunds will be made for the shipment costs.

We are not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from incorrect delivery details provided at the time of ordering. If a set is lost or damaged due to an error on your part, you will be liable for the full replacement cost of the sets.

Every set is checked for cleanliness before being sent out. As needed, we also carry out full cleaning using hot soapy water and mild soaps to ensure each set meets our hygiene standards.

Using Borrowed Sets and Reporting Missing Parts

We want you to have fun building, playing, and displaying your sets. And when you're ready for your next one, someone else will be just as excited to receive the set you've borrowed. Please look after it as if it were your own by returning the set to us in the same condition you received it.

We try to ensure sets are complete before they leave our care. However, due to the nature of our service, occasionally small pieces may go missing. If you notice any missing or damaged pieces, please report them to us as soon as possible by emailing info@brickborrow.fi or by using the contact form. We are always willing to send replacement pieces directly to you, so it is worth letting us know. If a set is returned with missing pieces that have not been reported, you may be charged the replacement costs plus an administration fee of €5. Borrowing privileges will be suspended until any outstanding charges for missing pieces are settled.

You should always receive authentic LEGO® products with your subscription. If you ever find any non-LEGO pieces in your set, please notify us immediately at info@brickborrow.fi or by using the contact form.

Returning Borrowed Sets

Brick Borrow boxes will contain a leaflet explaining how to return sets. Following these instructions will speed up our checking process and help us get your next set on its way. Boxes shipped to you will also contain a return shipping label. Contact us if this is missing or otherwise needs to be replaced.

Steps for returning a set:

  1. Dismantle sets down into individual pieces.

  2. Place the LEGO® pieces, LEGO® Minifigures, and instructions back into the sealed bags provided. Bigger pieces like baseplates can be carefully placed directly back into the Brick Borrow box. Note: If you received a new unused set, you do not need to place pieces into the original number bags – just place them in the empty bags provided.

  3. Pack the materials back into the original shipping box and seal the box with the sticker or tape provided. If you received tape, dampen the back of the tape to activate the glue, then apply it to seal the box securely.

  4. Apply the return label to the outside of the box and return via your most convenient Posti parcel point or office.

Referral Program

When you participate in the referral program, you receive a unique referral code to share with fellow enthusiasts. When someone uses your referral code to sign up and completes their first order, you will receive a free shipping code for your next order. Your referred friend will receive a free shipping code for their second order.

Free shipping codes are non-transferable and can only be used on Brick Borrow orders. We reserve the right to modify or cancel the referral program at any time without prior notice. Abuse of the referral program may result in disqualification and revocation of rewards.

Additional Charges for Unreturned Sets and Missing Parts

By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, the Customer authorises the Service Provider to use the payment card details provided at the time of registration, or any subsequently updated payment information, to recover the cost of the unreturned sets or missing parts. Please contact us in advance if you are unable to return a set, if parts are missing, or if a set is damaged, so that we can explore possible alternative arrangements.

The Customer must return all borrowed sets within fourteen (14) days after giving notice of termination of the membership subscription. If sets are not returned within this period, the Service Provider may charge the Customer an amount equal to the retail replacement value. This charge is processed automatically after the 14-day period without further notice. Once the payment is successfully processed, the Customer’s membership subscription will be terminated, their account closed, and the sets in question no longer need to be returned.

The Customer is also liable for deficiencies, damages, and costs discovered after return, including replacement costs of missing parts. If missing parts or damages are not reported in advance, the Service Provider may charge the Customer the cost of replacements plus a €5 handling fee.

Limitations of Liability

By subscribing to the Service and accepting these Terms, the Customer agrees that the Service Provider is not liable for any harm, direct or indirect costs, damage, or loss arising from the purchase, use, or handling of any goods, services, resources, content, or transactions related to the products supplied through the Service.

Some LEGO® sets contain small parts that are NOT suitable for and may pose a hazard to children under 3 years of age. The Customer is responsible for ensuring that such sets delivered through the Service are not made available to small children.

The Service Provider is not liable for damages caused by force majeure—events that are unforeseeable, beyond its reasonable control, and cannot be overcome with reasonable effort. The Service Provider must notify the Customer of such an event as soon as possible.

Changes to Pricing and Terms

The Service Provider will notify Customers of any pricing changes or substantial changes to the Service content at least 30 days before they take effect, giving the Customer the option to adjust or terminate their membership before the changes enter into force. Changes will take effect no earlier than the start of the next billing period. The Service Provider reserves the right to discontinue any membership plan at the end of the current billing cycle.

The Service Provider may update these Terms and Conditions without prior notice. The Customer is responsible for staying informed of the Terms and Conditions and accepts the updated Terms and Conditions by continuing to use the Service.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms and Conditions, the membership subscription and any agreements related to the Service between the Service Provider and the Customer are governed by Finnish law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules.

We aim to resolve any disputes concerning the Service or these Terms and Conditions primarily through negotiation and amicable settlement. If this is not possible, the Customer may refer the matter to the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (www.kuluttajariita.fi) or bring a claim before the district court of his/her domicile. Before contacting the Consumer Disputes Board, the Customer must first contact the Consumer Advisory Service of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (www.kuluttajaneuvonta.fi).
